About our Acupuncturist

Mina Johns RN, MS, MAc, LAc is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Acupuncture Detox Specialist, and the Owner of Annapolis Community Acupuncture, LLC.  She is also the founder of the Annapolis Veterans Acupuncture Clinic (AVAC), a free weekly veterans clinic staffed entirely by volunteers.  Mina received her master's degree in acupuncture from the Tai Sophia Institute in Columbia MD, the nation's first accredited acupuncture program. She decided to study acupuncture after experiencing first-hand what acupuncture can do for one's health.

Mina has received specialized training in pain management and advanced acupuncture techniques, with Dr. Richard Teh-Fu Tan (creator of The Balance Method); Dr. Richard Niemtzow (creator of Battlefield Acupuncture); Dr. Robert Chu (Master Tung's Acupuncture); and in the treatment of trauma with Acupuncturists Without Borders (Healing Community Trauma). She specializes in the treatment of pain, anxiety, stress, trauma and in the care of people with serious or life-threatening illnesses. Mina is a member of the Maryland Acupuncture Society (MAS) and Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB).

Mina is also a Registered Nurse with more than 36 years experience in several clinical areas, with a specialty in hospice. Mina continues to work with Hospice of the Chesapeake in Annapolis as an acupuncturist.

She and her husband Ric have lived in Annapolis for 6 years, and are proud sponsors of midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy.

Mina is passionate about community acupuncture, and is grateful to be able to bring high-quality, affordable acupuncture to the people of Annapolis. Her entire family, even her dogs Zeke and Zoey, have benefited from acupuncture.
